An Ethereal Wedding in the Tuscany Countryside

Enrica Di Lorenzo, an orthodontist, and Andrea Flora, an oral surgeon, were both completing a clinical internship program during November 2010 when they crossed paths. “Enrica was a shy and fascinating young woman, and for me, honestly, it was love at first sight,” Andrea remembers.

Eight years later, Andrea decided to pop the question over the holidays. “After a romantic dinner in a restaurant at Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in the heart of our city Milan, he took me to one of the oldest cinemas in the city with the excuse of seeing a movie,” Enrica recalls. “But, to my surprise, he screened a film he created with the story of our most special memories together.” At the end of the movie was a proposal, and Enrica accepted in pure bliss. “I remember that night as one of the most romantic nights of my life,” the bride reminisces.

The two got to planning their special day right away, but with the onset of the pandemic, they had to make multiple adjustments. “The hardest part of planning the wedding was changing the date often and keeping the wedding project how we have always dreamed of despite all of the difficulties during that uncertain period,” the couple reveals. By relying on one another and their wedding planner, Stefania Guastini of Guastini Style, they were able to overcome the challenges of wedding planning during a pandemic. “It was an intense path, but with the precious help of Stefania Guastini, it became a beautiful journey,” they share.

On July 20, 2021, the pair finally said “I do” in front of 90 guests in the Tuscan countryside. “We had always dreamed of an intimate party with family and our closest friends,” the couple says. “After the pandemic situation, our idea became stronger than ever.” Read on to see how their romantic nuptials played out, as planned by Stefania Guastini of Guastini Style and photographed by David Bastianoni.

The couple established their wedding color palette right off the bat by incorporating ivory and sage hues into their stationery suite. To give guests a peek into their dreamy wedding location in Tuscany, they had an illustration of their venues imprinted on deckle-edged paper.

Enrica and Andrea kicked off their wedding weekend with a scenic welcome party. While admiring the backdrop of rolling hills, guests dined at banquet tables coated in white linens and decorated with potted plants. On each chair was a custom towel favor, engraved with the Italian phrase, “Insieme ci garba,” meaning “Together we like it,” so guests could have a memento to remind them of this special day.

The bride evoked elegance in a flowy ivory Jacquemus dress with a strappy back, which she topped off with an ornate gold headband. Andrea wore a beige linen suit to commemorate the occasion.

Everyone spent the evening dining, dancing, and anticipating the moment when Enrica and Andrea would say “I do.”

On the morning of the wedding day, Andrea changed into a sharp navy blue Dior tuxedo and accessorized with jewelry that held sentimental value. “I kept my father’s wedding ring, so that day, I had him in my pocket and in my heart,” the groom discloses.

Enrica wanted an effortless hairstyle for her big day, so she enlisted the best hairstylist to twist her strands into loose waves: her mother. For her makeup, the bride went with a fresh-faced appearance. “I kept the look natural with a glowy fresh base that lasted all day and undetectable false lashes,” she notes. A spritz of Elixir d’Amour Parfums d’Elmar was the finishing touch.

Although Enrica didn’t want an official bridal party, she invited her best friends to get ready with her. They all wore white button-up shirts while snapping photos and making memories.

Enrica donned a whimsical long-sleeve Luisa Beccaria gown with silk organza fabric and floral embellishments for the ceremony. She found the show-stopping dress at Mark Ingram Atelier while visiting New York with her family. “That day, I saw my second dress for the wedding, and I lived my American dream,” she gushes. Although Enrica fell in love with the gown the moment she saw it, “I decided that it was the one when my dad saw it on me,” the bride shares. Enrica completed her attire with powder pink satin pumps from Aquazzura.

“The morning of the wedding, Andrea gave me a family ring of his grandmother’s,” Enrica says of the delicate gold bands.

The bride’s all-white bouquet of daisies, roses, stephanotis, and other wildflowers matched her organic bridal style perfectly. A silk ribbon tied the arrangement together.

The duo transformed the charming IAbbadia Isola church into the most romantic location to swap vows. Glowing votive candles and a hedge of greenery and white roses, hydrangea, and larkspur lined the staircase leading to the altar.

Enrica rode over to the church with her dad in a vintage car, so she could savor a private moment with him before the ceremony.

The most touching moment was when Enrica entered down the aisle.

“The most touching moment was when Enrica entered down the aisle,” Andrea reflects. A string quartet played “Gabriel’s Oboe” by Ennio Morricone while Enrica and her father made their way to the altar.

Instead of personalizing their nuptials, the couple followed a traditional Catholic ceremony where they received a blessing from the priest.

Once the priest pronounced the pair husband and wife, they walked back down the aisle to “Vita Nostra” by Ennio Morricone.

After the ceremony, the newlyweds hopped into the classic convertible, and Andrea drove them to the next phase of the wedding festivities. Neither one could contain their excitement that they were finally married!

But first, the twosome wanted to take photos to remember this moment. For anyone else planning a wedding, Enrica advises, “Let your dream guide you, and trust the journey.”

Enrica and Andrea created a real-life fairytale at Borgo Stomennano. A long table in a circular shape wrapped around the entire garden, and an eye-catching runner of white taper candles, greenery, and white flowers radiated romance. Ornate chandeliers suspended from trees and brought a degree of opulence to the setup.

When the couple made their grand entrance into the reception, they were amazed at how their vision came to life. “When I was a little girl, I was very fascinated by wedding magazines and blogs,” Enrica explains. “I fell in love with Borgo Stomennano ever since the first time I saw it and its special lights and tree-lined avenue. It’s incredible that when I was dreaming up my wedding, I always had Borgo Stomennano in mind.”

The lovers and their guests spent the evening enjoying a traditional Tuscan menu while sipping on four different kinds of spritzes. “We tried to create an authentic atmosphere made of love and friendship,” the duo says of their reception.

“I love live music,” Enrica exclaims. So, it was only natural that live bands performed throughout the party. A swing band played during the aperitivo, an Italian wedding tradition in which guests share a pre-dinner drink. For dinner, a French band set the mood.

“We decided to have a show-stopping handmade millefoglie,” Enrica says of their dessert choice. The lovebirds had the Italian custard and puff pastry cake topped with fresh berries and dusted with powdered sugar. Pastry cream, strawberry, and dark chocolate were their flavors of choice.

At the end of the night, Enrica changed into a fringe mini dress with sparkly accents from Naeem Khan. DJ Pape, a DJ and saxophonist duo, played while guests danced the night away.
