The 2023 Grammys Beauty Looks Are All About Celebrating Individuality

Music’s biggest night also happens to double as one of beauty’s biggest nights. If you can’t let your hair down (so to speak) on the 65th Annual Grammys red carpet, where on earth can you? As if delivering the ultimate antidote to those February doldrums, A-listers are brining their A-game with elaborate hairstyles, trendy makeup, and the most creative manicures in recent memory. Yes, the best 2023 Grammys beauty looks are all distinctly bold and dramatic, but they’re always carefully chosen to represent the artists themselves — there’s nothing coincidental about these red carpet selections. As the top names in every genre make their way to Los Angeles’ Arena — formerly known as the Staples Center — it’s anyone’s guess how the night will unfold.

Already, early arrivals like Lizzo and Bebe Rexa have set the glamorous tone for the evening, dressed up in bright, feel-good tones that radiate warmth and optimism through color choice alone. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift proves her Midnights era is here to say with a glimmering look reflective of the album’s nighttime aesthetic. With many anticipated attendees still on their way — not to mention whispers of an all-too-rare Beyoncé appearance — expect the unexpected.

Though she’s nominated tonight for her Red (Taylor’s Version) re-recordings, Swift is still showing her Midnights era some love with frosty baby blue eyeshadow and a vintage updo. Notably, though, she has opted for her once-signature red lipstick.

Cardi B proves exactly how royal blue got its name with her dramatic, regal gown and the chic hair and makeup look just beneath its headpiece. To play off her glossy low ponytail, her fluttery cat-eye features two distinct shades of blue eyeliner, applied by makeup artist Erika La’ Pearl: a matching royal blue shade through her waterline, and an indigo-toned blue along the upper lash line. Finally, a layer of SOL By Jergens nailed the summery, glowy sheen all over her body.

In her signature retro curls and ultra-defined cat-eye, Adele’s Grammys look is as classic as her music. Note the lined, matte lip and metallic nail polish, both in the same berry-tinged red family as her velvet gown.

Jennifer Lopez

Absolutely dripping in gems, Lopez’s Grammys look highlighted her natural elegance with matching, equally-lustrous makeup. Applied by Mary Phillips, the twinkling glitter in Lopez’s eyeshadow looked like gems themselves, as did her take on glazed donut nails, courtesy of celebrity nail artist Tom Bachik. Her Chris Appleton-styled blowout, center-parted and gently curled, is as bombshell as it gets.

Megan Fox

Fox’s glamour knows no bounds — or price limits, for that matter. For her Grammys red carpet appearance alongside beau Machine Gun Kelly, Fox paired her glossy blowout with a 14-karat gold-and-diamond nail set, a design collaboration by Marrow Fine Jewelry and Nails Of LA founder Brittany Boyce. Her long, defined eyelashes are actually KISS falsies, applied by celebrity makeup artist Jenna Kristina.

Olivia Rodrigo

Looking striking and sophisticated in a demure, see-through black gown and very minimal makeup, Rodrigo proves her red carpet versatility. The faintest traces of mascara and pink lipstick emphasize her coloring, letting her natural beauty shine.

Viola Davis

Starting the ceremony out on a very high note, Davis took home one of the night’s first Grammys for Best Audio Book Narration — and cinching a legendary EGOT in the process. For her big moment, Davis went with a deep side part and pops of blue and pink-toned red eyeshadow to play off her sequined gown.

Leaning into the warmth of spring with tulip-y orange tones and sunset-colored eye makeup from Charlotte Tilbury, Lizzo’s 2023 Grammys look is in full bloom. Her clustered Velour Beauty falsies, applied by celebrity makeup artist Alexx Mayo, gives her lashes a dewy effect, complemented by the glossy, curled baby hairs arranged by celebrity hairstylist Shelby Swain using Harry Josh Pro Tools and Sebastian Professional products. Her long orange nails are dotted in glittering 3D roses, just like the kind seen on her gown.

Kacey Musgraves

In a callback to the feathered look she wore at the 2019 ceremony, at which she won Album Of The Year, Musgraves’ pink-on-pink version comes complete with matching makeup, applied by Moani Lee with Charlotte Tilbury products. Her cotton candy-colored eyeshadow, blush, and lipstick don’t overpower the feathers, while her glossy updo — styled by Giovanni Delgado using T3 tools — is a sophisticated classic.

Anitta’s up for Best New Artist but there’s nothing amateurish about her Grammys red carpet look. Channeling ‘90s glamour with frosty brown lipstick and a taupe-toned smoky eye by Patrick Ta, the makeup colors are the perfect partners for her blown-out auburn hair styled by Jesus Guerrero using OGX Hair products.

Bebe Rexha

Rexa loves a vintage moment, but her Farrah Fawcett-inspired red carpet look at the 2023 Grammys is especially accurate. The ultra-trendy, voluminous curls, styled by Cesar Deleon Ramirez using Unite Hair products, frame her gown-matching bubblegum pink blush.

Mary J. Blige

Platinum like her gown and her records, Blige’s blonde ponytail is full, flowing, and waist-length on the Grammys red carpet. Styled by celebrity hair artist Tym Wallace using FEKKAI products, it’s impossibly glamorous. Her cat-eye makeup concentrates the darker shades along her outer lash line for a sultry, lifted effect.

Paris Hilton

Striking a balance between a Y2K classic and TikTok’s favorite hairstyle of the moment, Hilton’s half-up bun, styled by Eduardo Ponce using FEKKAI products, is the best of both worlds. Meanwhile, her liner-ringed eyes and lustrous lip gloss also harken back to the new millennium in the best way.

Camila Cabello

Adding major inches to her dimensional brunette hair with Great Lengths Extensions, — expertly applied by celebrity stylist Dimitris Giannetos — Cabello’s layers and long, piece-y bangs play up her bone structure.

Serving up gorgeous, classic glamour, H.E.R. ultra-defined, ultra-voluminous curls and berry-toned lipstick would stun at any event. Her matte black nails add a texture through-line between her velvet gown and the beauty touches, an effect heighten by her matching black eyeshadow.

Laverne Cox

Gilded and glowing, delicate touches of gold illuminate Laverne Cox’s beaded gown and beauty look. Speckles of gold leaf outlines her inky black cat-eye makeup, while her blonde highlighted ponytail — and even the braided tendrils framing her face, styled by Kiyah Wright with FEKKAI products — are dotted with matching gold rings.

Maren Morris

As one of country’s most outspoken and daring artists, Morris always delivers a memorable red carpet beauty moment. For the 2023 Grammys, she opted for a wet-hair look, complete with lightly bleached brows and sultry, smoky eyeliner.

Bonnie Raitt

For her 2023 Grammys red carpet beauty look, the legendary country singer put a spin on the monochromatic makeup trend. In lieu of matching her eyeshadow, blush, and lipstick, Raitt looked to her signature copper hair for eye makeup inspiration, wearing a smoky eye in the same bold hue.

Amanda Gorman

Bobs are everywhere right now, including the 2023 Grammys red carpet. To offset her minimalist black lace Prada gown, Gorman went with a ‘90s-inspired blunt bob, deep plum lipstick and pop of gold eyeshadow to really make her eyes pop.

Shania Twain

As far as delivering show-stopping red carpet beauty looks, Twain is still the one. The Canadian country superstar is another musician who opted to match their lipstick to their hair. Her cherry red long wig with bangs was is exact match to her matte lip.

Fully embracing the edgy, indie, cool vibes, singer GAYLE’s smudgy kohl-rimmed eyes and tousled two-toned hair look fully embrace the “anything goes” spirit of the Grammys red carpet.
